Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Traditional Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine, and it's estimated to be more than 3000 years old. It's based on the belief that it helps to restore the "Qi"  (life force energy) within the body.

Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles into various acupuncture points on the body. This small action can trigger a cascade of effects from increasing endorphins to boosting immune functioning to releasing anti-inflammatories (important in reducing swelling and supporting healing).

This holistic approach to health and wellness promotes the body's natural healing response. Traditional Acupuncture aims to treat the whole person rather than specific symptoms in isolation, so it can be used to treat a wide range of problems. Lots of people come for Acupuncture to help with specific conditions (such as back pain) or because they feel generally unwell and would like to enhance their wellbeing. Acupuncture is a wonderful form of ancient medicine that can help many people, treating a wide variety of conditions.

what does acupuncture feel like?
Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles in various parts of the body.

When the needle is inserted you may feel a tingling sensation or a dull ache. Most people find the process deeply relaxing and a pleasant experience.

Acupuncture needles are very different from other needles you may have experienced before. they are very fine and so not felt in the same way as when you have an injection. most people don't find it uncomfortable to receive acupuncture needles during treatment.

Your Treatment may also include massage, cupping, Gua sha, kinesiology taping and warming the needles (moxibustion or a heat lamp) and the use of ear seeds.

Weekly sessions are quite usual to begin with, for perhaps six treatments, reducing in frequency as your body responds.

Acupuncture

Promotes blood flow and stimulates the release of oxytocin, activating the bodies own natural pain killers. It relaxes and releases muscle tension to activate the bodies own natural ability to heal.

Auricular Acupuncture

I have done additional CPD & Diploma Training in different systems of Auricular Acupuncture. Including  NADA (The National Acupuncture Detoxification Association), Battlefield Acupuncture &  Korean auriculotherapy.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the ear is used as a microsystem to treat the entire body. The ear has been utilized as a means of both diagnosing and treating health disorders for thousands of years. Stimulation of the ear by massage, cauterization, piercings, and bloodletting was practiced in ancient China, Egypt, Greece and the Middle East to influence health.
