Acupuncture

What is Acupuncture?

Traditional Acupuncture is an ancient form of medicine, and it's estimated to be more than 3000 years old. It's based on the belief that it helps to restore the "Qi"  (life force energy) within the body.

Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles into various acupuncture points on the body. This small action can trigger a cascade of effects from increasing endorphins to boosting immune functioning to releasing anti-inflammatories (important in reducing swelling and supporting healing).

This holistic approach to health and wellness promotes the body's natural healing response. Traditional Acupuncture aims to treat the whole person rather than specific symptoms in isolation, so it can be used to treat a wide range of problems. Lots of people come for Acupuncture to help with specific conditions (such as back pain) or because they feel generally unwell and would like to enhance their wellbeing. Acupuncture is a wonderful form of ancient medicine that can help many people, treating a wide variety of conditions.

what does acupuncture feel like?
Acupuncture involves inserting very fine needles in various parts of the body.

When the needle is inserted you may feel a tingling sensation or a dull ache. Most people find the process deeply relaxing and a pleasant experience.

Your Treatment may also include massage, cupping and warming the needles (moxibustion or a heat lamp) and the use of ear seeds.

Weekly sessions are quite usual to begin with, for perhaps five or six treatments, reducing in frequency as your body responds.
